Career Transition Coaching for Adults at a Crossroads
Your career can look fine from the outside and still stop fitting. You do not need a perfect five-year plan. You need an honest way to decide what should change next.
Career transition coaching is a focused conversation for adults deciding what should change in their working lives. It can help you clarify the problem, compare options and trade-offs, design practical tests, and follow through on the next step you choose.
When a Career Decision Gets Noisy
You may be successful on paper and quietly miserable. You may be good at work you no longer want to keep doing. You may have too many possible directions, or one appealing direction that carries real financial and personal risk.
Career decisions become especially difficult when they are tangled with identity, money, family responsibilities, health, divorce, burnout, relocation, or the fear that changing direction means wasting everything you already built.
The goal is not to talk you into leaving. It is not to talk you into staying. It is to understand the decision well enough that your next step is based on more than the worst day at your current job—or the imagined best day somewhere else.
You know something is off
We slow the situation down and identify whether the problem is the work, employer, role, season, or story you are carrying about success.
You have too many options
We make the possibilities specific enough to compare instead of asking one vague idea to become your perfect answer.
The trade-offs are real
We name income, benefits, time, energy, location, responsibility, and the cost of staying without pretending any choice is free.
You keep thinking but not moving
We turn reflection into a useful conversation, research step, experiment, or decision you can actually complete.
What We Can Work Through Together
A useful coaching conversation starts with the decision in front of you—not a generic program.
Name the real problem
Separate dissatisfaction with a job from dissatisfaction with the field, the organization, or the life around the work.
Compare realistic directions
Look at ordinary days, actual requirements, and trade-offs instead of comparing reality with fantasy.
Translate your experience
Identify the judgment, skills, relationships, and problem-solving experience that may travel into a new context.
Design a useful test
Choose a conversation, project, class, internal change, or other low-risk step that can replace an assumption with evidence.
Prepare the conversation
Think through what needs to be said to a partner, employer, colleague, or person whose life is affected by the choice.
Follow through
Leave with a specific next step and return with something real to examine—not pressure to perform certainty.
What a Session Feels Like
Coaching with me is a conversation with a purpose. You bring the decision, transition, or pattern that feels stuck. We slow it down, separate what you want from what you think you should want, and look closely at the assumptions influencing the choice.
I will ask questions, reflect what I hear, challenge something when it seems useful, and help you turn insight into a next step. I will not hand you a scripted life plan. Your life is not a worksheet, and a good decision does not become honest because someone else made it sound certain.
A useful session should leave you knowing what you see differently, what still needs investigation, and what you will do next.
What Career Transition Coaching Does—and Does Not—Include
Career transition coaching can support reflection, decision-making, trade-off analysis, practical experiments, difficult conversations, and follow-through.
It is not résumé writing, LinkedIn optimization, recruiting, job placement, interview preparation, financial planning, legal advice, therapy, counseling, diagnosis, crisis care, or medical treatment. It does not guarantee employment, income, promotion, business success, or a successful career change.
If your question requires specialized career-placement, financial, legal, medical, or clinical support, the honest next step is to work with someone appropriately qualified for that part of the decision.
Practical Business Experience, Without the Guru Act
Josh founded and led Tempo Creative, a Scottsdale digital marketing agency that ranked No. 1,154 on the 2014 Inc. 5000. That experience informs practical conversations about leadership, responsibility, work, clients, risk, and change.
It does not make Josh a recruiter, financial advisor, or expert in every industry. The value is having a thoughtful partner who understands that a career decision lives in the real world—and still belongs to you.
Sessions, Pricing, and Fit
Current individual session options and prices are published on the Sessions & Pricing page. You can begin with a free 15-minute consultation to explain what is happening, ask questions about Josh's style and scope, and decide whether a paid session makes sense.
The consultation is a fit conversation, not a pressure call. It is okay if the answer is that another kind of help would serve you better.
Career Transition Coaching FAQs
How do I know whether I need a new job or a new career?
Ask what would need to change for your working life to become acceptable again. If a different employer, manager, schedule, team, or level of responsibility would solve most of the problem, test a job change first. If the daily work itself no longer fits, a broader career change may deserve investigation.
Will you rewrite my résumé or LinkedIn profile?
No. Josh's work focuses on reflection, decisions, trade-offs, experiments, conversations, and follow-through. Résumé writing, LinkedIn optimization, recruiting, and job-placement services belong with professionals who specifically provide those services.
Can you help me decide whether to quit?
Josh can help you examine what is not working, what the decision would affect, what alternatives exist, and what you can test before making a larger move. Josh will not choose for you or promise that leaving—or staying—will produce a particular result.
Do I need to know what career I want before booking?
No. You can begin with the uncertainty itself. The first useful question may be whether you need a new field, a new role, a different employer, or a change elsewhere in life before the career decision becomes clearer.
Is this only for executives or men in midlife?
No. Josh works online with adults at different career stages. Midlife and men's transitions are important areas of experience, but they are not the whole service or a requirement for working together.
How much does career transition coaching cost?
Current individual session options, packages, subscriptions, and policies are listed on the Sessions & Pricing page. The free 15-minute consultation lets you ask about fit before booking a paid session.
Let's figure out what should change next.
You do not need to arrive certain. Bring the part of your working life that no longer fits, the options you keep circling, or the decision you have been avoiding.
